KRISHNA - An Efficient Concurrency Control Algorithm Based on Dynamic Attributes of Transactions and its Performance
نویسنده
چکیده
Concurrent transactions during their execution life acquire a number of attributes. We call them dynamic attributes of transactions. We have used them to develop a concurrency control mechanism, called KRISHNA, using two-phase locking policy. To establish the usefulness of dynamic attributes in developing concurrency control mechanisms and to investigate the behavior of KRISHNA, we have studied their performance using a detailed simulation model. We show that KRISHNA outperforms a number of well-known concurency control mechanisms based on two-phase policy. We also show that the conflict resolution policy of KRISHNA is comparatively more accurate in resolving conflicts, i.e., it selects the "right" transaction for rolling-back or blocking. We argue that implementing KRISHNA is not expensive compared to commonly used concurrency control mechanisms.

Optimization of majority protocol for controlling transactions concurrency in distributed databases by multi-agent systems
In this paper, we propose a new concurrency control algorithm based on multi-agent systems which is an extension of majority protocol. Then, we suggest a clustering approach to get better results in reliability, decreasing message passing and algorithm’s runtime. Here, we consider n different transactions working on non-conflict data items. Considering execution efficiency of some different...

Concurrency control is one of the important problems in operation systems. Various studies have been reported to present different algorithms to address this problem, although a few attempts have been made to represent an overall view of the characteristics of these algorithms and comparison of their capabilities to each other. This paper presents a survey of the current methods for controlling...

متن کاملDynamic Allocation of Abundant Data Along Update Sub-Cycles To Support Update Transactions In Wireless Broadcasting
Supporting transactions processing over wireless broadcasting environment has attracted a considerable amount of research in a mobile computing system. To allow more than one conflicting transactions to be committed within the same broadcast cycle, the main broadcast cycle need to be decompose into a sub cycles. This decomposition contains both the original data to be broadcast in Rcast cycle a...
متن کاملReposting Algorithms for Request Order Concurrency Control
The goal of concurrency control is to guarantee the correct interleaving of the operations. ROLL (Request Order Linked List) is a concurrency control method which can avoid transaction abort and minimize transaction restart. In its basic form, it requires predeclaration before a transaction is scheduled, similar to other conservative concurrency control methods, including conservative 2PL (2-Ph...
